Well this is our little house. We have been moving and fixing for a little over a week now and we absolutely love it! As we speak my husband is finishing up an arch that we decided to do (we knocked out a wall between the kitchen and that front room on the right in the picture). There is a lot of work that still needs to be done, but this is hands down one of the most welcoming spaces I have ever lived in. My animals seem to concur although the size is about 1/2 what we were previously living in.
There is a cement covered back porch where we can give them their raw dinners (I got a great scrub brush to wash it down even though they clean up after themselves quite well). The front room that you can see in the picture with the funky windows also has a cement floor (which I have already scrubbed) for those particularly chilly nights when they are wet and need to dry off and warm up. We also open up that door during the day and throw a bed in there. I can’t wait to get some plants in there and see what it morphs into!
The kitchen is our main project. Getting that in working order so that we can have all our appliances in there (including our washer and dryer) has taken some careful planning. Being raw has its benefits (we seem to require a lot less as far as utensils and prep items go) but at the same time we need space for our nuts, seeds and sprouting stuff.
We are doing almost all the work ourselves which can be a blessing and also very difficult. As I write this my wonderful husband is in the basement making the best of our plumbing situation (which is far from updated or ideal). He is staying wonderfully positive about the whole thing and I attribute that to the raw food. He’s so handy!
I have noticed being in our second full month of 100% raw we are eating less. We are eating what is more like 2 small meals a day instead of our usual 3 -4 smaller meals. I have been getting horrible cravings for crunchy stuff (mostly Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies) which I don’t really know what to do with. Last night I threw together a savory bread/cracker in an attempt to curb the need for crunchy and am quite pleased with the outcome. It’s both crunchy and savory! Eureka! While making those, my mind got wandering and I think I am going to attempt making raw Doritos (I also had a craving for those the other day). We shall see how it goes.
The strange thing is I am about 99% vegan (except for my Moxxor). I am really confused why I am having cravings for cheesy stuff (but only crunchy cheesy stuff not actual cheese). The human body is a strange thing!
Well wish us luck with our little house. We still have a bunch of stuff to move from the old house (most of it is going into storage). The nice thing about that is we will be able to truly evaluate what we do and don’t need/want anymore. This is perfect for us as we are working towards living a more natural/sustainable lifestyle. That is part of why we decided to downsize our home. We will have to get a little more creative in the event of children (but that’s a ways off still). Plus there are other factors that weigh on my mind more than the house when it comes to children!
Be Well!

Awww! Thank you so much Ingrid! We are very please with it but anticipate having all sorts of projects. I have about 50 miniature rose bushes outside that I need to tame…would you care for some miniature roses?
